1984 continued

Read, read, read! We are into 1984 and I know there are those of you who still have not read Part One! It is difficult to study this book if you don't know what's going on in Winston's life. Get to it! Remember to use Spark Notes if you have difficulty following the plot.
Next week you should have decided what your group is going to discuss or present to the class in terms of the totalitarian ethos! Hopefully, you will come up with something creative! Research paper topics should be started, also. We will discuss thesis statements for these next week. Have a great weekend!

New term!

Hello, once again, my doves! A new term is on the way. We are studying 1984 right now. (Don't forget to italicize novel titles!) Please read the first six chapters by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. I will be giving you interesting and fulfilling topics to explore and discuss. Hope you like 1984.

Short Stories unit almost over!

November 3rd already!

We have completed your study of some interesting and evocative short stories. Well, that's my opinion...otherwise, I would not have picked them! You should have 5 assignments completed by next week...just in time for the November 14th report card. If you are still working on the assignments, I will give you an IN PROGRESS to be completed as you find the time in your busy schedules.
The next thing is to complete a short story. Ideas are in your handouts, but don't think that I am the only one with the ideas! Please feel free to stretch your creative limbs and go somewhere that no one has gone before! Remember: Great writers steal; mediocre writers imitate.
Book review is also due: one page only!
